Are there any eligibility criteria?

Other than the standard criteria for Shared Ownership which is detailed in the Shared Ownership section, buyers are required to have a local connection to North Somerset.

What is a 'Local connection to North Somerset'?

A Local connection is categorised by North Somerset Council as one of the following:

  • Have lived in North Somerset for the two consecutive years preceding the date the application is made; or
  • Have previously lived in North Somerset for ten consecutive years no more than five years prior to the date the application is made; or
  • Have retained continuous employment in North Somerset, of a minimum of 16 hours per week, for at least the 12 months preceding the date the application is made; or
  • Family connections – applicant’s immediate family member (parents, siblings, non-dependent children) has lived in North Somerset for the last two consecutive years and applicant has a need to live near this person to give or receive care or support

Making an application to buy

When homes at the development are available to buy we will inform everyone who has registered their interest by email. Please get your application in early to be in with the best chance of getting a home. Homes will then be allocated on a first come first served basis, with priority being given to military personnel over all others.
